Portugal. The Man: Portugal. The Man has successfully brought back psychedelic rock to mainstream music, both through acclaimed festival tour dates and on albums like their latest major label debut, In the Mountain, In the Cloud. Portugal. The Man is also becoming well known for their diligent touring and recording schedule, having released 12 albums and EPs in the past six years. The band is also going on months worth of domestic and international tour dates in 2011, to the delight of fans who have come to expect this level of attention from these rising talents.

Portugal. The Man began as a side project for lead singer and guitarist John Gourley. The band began receiving widespread recognition after the release of their second album, Church Mouth, which afforded Portugal. The Man with their first headlining tour dates in the US and Europe. It was all down hill from there, as their next four albums would experience great reviews and a positive response from audiences. 2009's The Satanic Satanist received particular attention, as it was their first album to include pre-production and was praised for its sound.

Portugal. The Man's freshly released In the Mountain, In the Cloud marks the band's major label debut. Those critics that have heard the album in advance have already given it great reviews, and the fan hype has built to a fever pitch. Portugal. The Man has already been performing months worth of tour dates in 2011, and will continue to do so for months after the album's release. While there are too many concerts to name, the band will be traveling around the world, performing solo shows and at festivals until they end their 2011 tour dates on December 4.

Manchester Orchestra: Many people might be surprised to find that Manchester Orchestra is actually from the suburbs of Atlanta, although the alt-indie band shares a similar musical style to English bands from Manchester, including The Smiths and Joy Division. Manchester Orchestra's tour dates and albums have become hugely popular with fans and newcomers, especially in 2011. Audiences are often surprised to find that such somber, beautiful music can be played with such enthusiasm on concert dates, adding to their live appeal. The anticipation of Manchester Orchestra's newest album, Simple Math, has been growing, especially due to the release date being pushed back to May 10. To further the excitement of the album's release, Manchester Orchestra is embarking on a number of co-headlining tour dates in 2011with Cage the Elephant.

Manchester Orchestra started as a solo project by lead singer Andy Hull in 2004. Hull gathered some friends together to form a band and they soon released their first album, Nobody Sings Anymore, later in 2004. However, due to a swift change in the band's musical style Manchester Orchestra never released the album. Some of the album's tracks were released on the band's first EP, You Brainstorm, I Brainstorm, but Brilliance Needs a Good Editor, that was released in 2005. Manchester Orchestra followed up the EP with their "debut" album, I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child, in 2007, which gained the attention of Canvasback Records.

Their second full-length album, Mean Everything to Nothing, was the first Manchester Orchestra album to place in the charts. The album was a huge success both commercially and critically, receiving primarily favorable reviews. The popularity of the album saw its tracks played on a number of television shows, and the band itself performed concert dates on late night talk shows.

In early 2010, Manchester Orchestra released a split EP with New York indie performer Kevin Devine. The collaboration did so well, that Devine and Manchester Orchestra decided to record a full-length, self-titled album together under the name Bad Books, which was released in late 2010. The release was followed by a number of tour dates in which both Devine and Manchester Orchestra performed on stage. Less positive news came just before the split's release in 2010, when drummer Jeremiah Edmond left to focus on his role at the band's record label; he was replaced by drummer Tim Very.

After two years without a follow-up to their hit album, Mean Everything to Nothing, Manchester Orchestra finally has a new album out, titled Simple Math. The band's newest release is a concept album with the theme relating to Hull's own personal, professional, and existential problems that he's experienced since the band's last album. In honor of the album, Manchester Orchestra has scheduled a number of 2011 concert dates with co-headliners Cage the Elephant. Manchester Orchestra will kick off the 2011 tour dates on April 29 in Memphis, Tennessee. The tour dates will -- for lack of a better term -- circle the rim of the United States, including a concert date in Toronto, Canada, on May 16. Tour dates in 2011 will conclude in Denver, Colorado on June 12; with presage tickets running out, fans should look for ticket information on Eventful soon.

The Killers: Before indie rock became so prolific in recent years that most bands are now casually dismissed into the "indie landfill", there was The Killers. Upon the release of their acclaimed single "Mr. Brightside", The Killers thrust indie rock into the upper echelons of mainstream popularity, making their tour dates and albums widely sought after. Despite their origins in Las Vegas, The Killers' synth-infused style has become hugely popular with fans around the world, particularly in the UK. Despite the band's members stating that it might take them a while to release, and it being the cause of no tour dates in 2011, fans are excited about The Killers' upcoming album; their first in three years.

After playing at clubs locally in Las Vegas, The Killers experienced success in the UK thanks to the single "Mr. Brightside." That success spread to the US and other parts of the world with the release of Hot Fuss, which went platinum six times and featured the hit singles "Somebody Told Me" and "Smile Like You Mean It." The Killers followed-up with Sam's Town in 2006, which experienced nearly the same success as their debut effort. The album was succeeded by a number of headlining tour dates, including memorable performances at Madison Square Garden and Glastonbury Festival.

The Killers' third album, Day & Age, received even better reviews than Sam's Town and also went multi-platinum. With The Killers' continued success fans can't wait to see what the indie band has planned next; even though they'll have to.
